Description
of Cleanup
The Baytown Nature Center is comprised of approximately 400 acres of hardwood
uplands, high quality tidal marsh, and freshwater wetlands. Formerly the
Brownwood subdivision, the Baytown Nature Center is a wonderful education
venue that houses fishing piers, picnic areas, a trail system, 60+ acres
of tidal marsh, a butterfly garden, and a children's nature discovery
playground. The Nature Center's Brownwood Educational Pavilion sits on
top of Mount Brownwood, the highest point in Baytown, and offers a wonderful
360° view of the Baytown area, including the Fred Hartman Bridge and
the Houston Ship Channel. A site on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail,
the Nature Center is home to over 300 species of resident and migratory
birds. This site is primarily land-based but there will be some water-based
areas around the marshes and along the bays.
