Volunteer Information

 SAFETY
Volunteering for the annual Trash Bash® can be a rewarding and fun experience for all involved,  and should not be strenuous or hazardous work.

However, there are safety rules and guidelines that everyone should follow to make the day enjoyable, safe and worthwhile to all involved.

Local site coordinators and leaders may establish additional guidelines for their particular site, as each site has unique opportunities that may not be covered by general guidelines. Site coordinators are responsible for their site and shall have the final say on all issues at their site.
VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
For the Virtual Trash Bash 2021 event, all participants are asked to register. 2021 Registration will open in January 2021.

When Trash Bash resumes normal cleanup events, registration follows the process below:
All volunteers need to do is come to a site of their choosing.

All volunteers must fill out a registration waiver form and submit it with original signature at the site on the day of the event.

Preregistration for Trash Bash® is not required but you can save time by completing your Registration Waiver Form (below) in advance and bringing it to the site.

Download Registration Waiver Forms in English or Spanish.

GROUP RESERVATIONS
Groups are welcome at every location. Group Reservations, while never required, are a great way to let our sites know if you are bringing a group of more than 10 volunteers. Complete the online form. NOTE: Each member of your group must still print out, sign, and bring registration waiver forms to the site of your choice on the day of the event. Group reservations will open in December.

Weather
Trash Bash® will be held rain or shine. Due to the widespread locations of each site, one site may be experiencing weather problems while another is not. If there is a question pertaining to weather issues, please call our hotline at (281) 486-9500 to receive information pertaining to the overall event.

What NOT to Wear?
Please wear clothing appropriate to the area, work outdoors and the weather where you are working; gloves, boots, hats/caps, long pants, etc. Sturdy, closed toed shoes shall be worn in all areas. Do not wear sandals or flip-flops. Your clothes will probably get wet or dirty. Bring additional clothing as appropriate. Group leaders should make sure that everyone in their group is wearing appropriate footwear.

Valuables
Trash Bash® or its site coordinators are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Make sure your belongings and valuables are secure or simply leave them at home.

Comfort Guidelines
Guidelines for staying comfortable can be found below:
  • Make sure to bring an insect repellent and sunscreen or other appropriate cosmetics necessary for your safety and health. Sunscreens and insect repellents will not be supplied by the cleanup sites.
  • Hats, caps and sunglasses should be worn as appropriate.
