History
Founded in 1994 by the Houston-Galveston Area Council and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality with 7 sites and 3,000 volunteers, Trash Bash® has grown up to 16 sites across the Galveston Bay Watershed with an average of 4,000+ volunteers annually.
Trash Bash® is managed by the Texas Conservation Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, with additional coordination and guidance from H-GAC and its Coordination Committee.
Trash Bash® is partially financed through grants from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Trash Bash® is also an approved recipient for TCEQ Supplemental Environmental Project funds.

Trash Bash® has experienced tremendous growth over 29 years. Since 1994,more than 117,000 volunteers have collected over 2,400 tons of trash, 22.53 tons of recycling, and 11,965 tires.
